Official USPS 1988 Classic Cars Issue FDC Cards with International Motor
Sports Hall of Fame Cancellation, July 25, 1990
Item Description
& Condition Details. Here’s a head
scratcher. This is a set of official US
Postal Service cards with details of each of the cars depicted in the classic
car stamp issue of 1988. Generally
speaking, the corresponding stamp is affixed behind the left front wheel and
then cancelled in Detroit August 25, 1988 (if issued as a FDC). However, these examples are oddball; these particular
cards have the stamp affixed in the lower right-hand corner and are cancelled
with a fancy International Motorsports Hall of Fame cancellation dated July 25,
1990. These were issued for the first
annual induction ceremonies held at the IMSHOF facility located adjacent to the
Talladega Superspeedway in Talladega, Alabama.
The cards are in mint or near mint condition with only the slightest of
corner wear on a couple of them. Please
review photos before purchasing.
