About the Artist:
Gabe Galloway is a film photographer practicing in Chicago, Illinois. His photographic work inquires into the nature of privacy in the information age and critiques the historical development of obscenity and decency laws. Galloway has taught at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago since 2010 and is President Emeritus of Latitude, Chicago's community digital lab.
About the Project:
Inspired by found vintage slides featuring nude images, Gabe Galloway's Camera Club Project is an investigation into the practices of nude photography before the age of commercial pornography. The project consists of instant film, original slides, silver gelatin prints, and 4x6 "drug store" prints.
