This superlative oil on canvas measures a most decorative 29” x 39” in its original period frame; 20” x 30” actual and is fully titled and signed/inscribed on the reverse of the canvas, “Winter Cranes by Yutao Chen 1967…Gallery Apollo…Hong Kong. Yutao Chen was born (1922) in Kulangsu, Amoy and graduated from the Amoy Academy of Fine Arts and the Academy of Fine Arts, Shanghai. He had numerous one-man shows in the 1960’s and his work fused traditional Chinese ink painting subjects with the gestural brushwork and heavy impasto of expressionism. The work has nice palette with occasionally heavy impasto and looks terrific when hanging. Both frame and work are quite dirty with stable paint and a 3 corner tear with some loss upper right. There is a 1” horizontal partial tear (no loss) in the center of the work. WE ARE ALWAYS HAPPY TO SHIP WORLDWIDE IF ALLOWED BY USPS. Please contact for international shipping cost quote.
