Polite notice:- My return policy is 14 days (not 30 days) which means if you are not happy with your item or if you have changed your mind, please return the item to me within 14 days of receipt, not 30 days as ebay state, as this is a technical glitch on their part on sellers listings until they get their IT / software sorted out.

This brooch - badge came from a relation of the Bilton 1912 Pottery Company and she said this was the ONLY example ever made of this item....I only have the WORD of this person... you decide.. you may know of others.. I have googled it and have been UNABLE to find anything similar at all.
A rare TRIAL production prototype pottery brooch, made for Edward VIII's Coronation, showing the would be King on the front, transfer print in colour and the date May 12 1937.  It comes in its original box.  The interior of the box is cream silk and velvet and has the name 'Bilton's (1912) Ltd, Potters, Stoke-on-Trent' on the underside of the lid.
The back of the pottery brooch is impressed BILTON'S ENGLAND, and a small painted number 2.
The pin and hinge are in  excellent order, made from base metal.
Of course Edward VIII never became King, therefore this brooch is probably the only one made, it would never have gone into production.
It measures approx just under 2 inches in length and 1. 1/4 inches in width.
The brooch is in very good order and only has a flea bite nibble to the end, otherwise just crazed glazing.  The box is in good order with minimal age and use wear to exterior and some metal marking and a hole in the velvet where the brooch has been.
I rather like the shaped ends of the pottery brooch to allow for the two little fold over metal bits of the pin behind..
