It was 1968 when his non-conventional, casual and elegant character arrived on set of the film 
The Thomas Crown Affair. And he was wearing a pair of Persol 714 sunglasses. 

This is where history and legend intertwine. 
The American actor had been a Persol fan for some time, and had a vast personal collection. 
In 2006, a pair from his collection was sold at an auction for about USD $70,000.

This folding 714 model, and in particular the version with the light havana frame and crystal blue lenses, 
Steve McQueen™ discovered an accessory that went on to accompany him 
on set but also in his private life, renowned for his love for bikes and racing cars.
