The Painting

Artist Recollection:

"Typically, before I start a painting I have an idea in my head what it is going to look like. Sometimes I go into great detail and studies even before I touch the canvas. But there are occasions when the paint takes over. That's what happened on "Bubble Gum Lily Pond". It started as a Monet inspired lily pond but soon the varying colors took charge. They seemed to just jump by themselves onto the canvas! After the last stroke and I put the brush down it was as if someone had just unveiled the painting to me! The bold colors harmonized with each other and it almost looked like it was made out of fresh juicy "Bubble Gum".

No Frame Required

A special and unique feature of this painting is that a frame is not required! The canvas is back stapled and wraps around the stretchers -"gallery wrap" style. Another artistic enhancement is that the painted image also wraps around on the edges, i.e. the edges are part of the painting. The backside of the painting is covered and includes a hanger bar, wall pads and the "MacDonald" embossed seal of authenticity. Of course, you can set this beautiful artwork off in a frame if you desire.

"Robert" Paintings
Paintings signed "Robert" are painted by artist Robert MacDonald, Jr.,  however, are not included in his main works of art which are signed "MacDonald." A "Robert" painting is still a high-quality painting, registered, and carries the same lifetime investment guarantee. These paintings are a great way to collect and invest in fine art at a fraction of the price of a "MacDonald" painting. A "Robert" painting may be an interpretation of a classic painting, a color study, a technique study, an experimental work, or a quick inspirational painting!

Robert MacDonald, Artist
American contemporary artist Robert MacDonald, known for his "Willie Nelson Peace in the Valley" cover art and music, among other works, is introducing a new concept to appreciating, collecting and especially investing in art.

"The art market can be very daunting, especially for entry-level art collectors and I want to increase their confidence in knowing that their investment in my art will never decrease in value.  Plus, bringing awareness that I will do everything I can to increase their investment," explains MacDonald as to why he developed this concept. (see "Investment Guarantee" below).

All MacDonald's art is cataloged and includes a Certificate of Authenticity.  This assures the art collector and investor that the artwork is original, and the documentation provides for an increase in value. Also contributing to the increase in value of MacDonald's art is the way in which his art is marketed.  "Often there is a stigma to how art is marketed or commercialized, but I take my cues from Picasso, doing whatever moves me," says MacDonald.  He goes on, "If my art looks appropriate for an album or book cover, movie set, or even a lady's purse, I'm ok with it." Because MacDonald's art is cataloged, MacDonald Gallery can help collectors locate specific pieces for their collection and likely providing a profit to the current owner.

As an artist, MacDonald has yet to become a self-proclaimed minotaur, creator of 54,000 works of art, let alone cut part of his ear off, or even shoot himself to death, but he is trying to come as close as he possibly can and still, survive.   MacDonald has been doing so by "walking the walk" of Vincent Van Gogh and Pablo Ruiz Picasso. His "Pasaje Picasso" has taken him to every significant place where Picasso lived and created his art.  Likewise, his "Voyage Van Gogh" has taken him to virtually every place in the world where Vincent Van Gogh set foot.  He has personally viewed & studied over 90% of Van Gogh's public works.

MacDonald is influenced by many other artists and is definitely not trying to be another Picasso or Van Gogh, his "raisond'être" is simply, "They are my talisman." As for investing in his art, MacDonald makes note, "of course the main purpose of my art is for enjoyment and appreciation on an artistic level, so by taking away any investment concerns, I believe my art can be enjoyed even more."
