Please make sure when opening and closing your necklace hold the metal clasp itself and not just the leather cord. 

This type of necklace are attached with super-glue.

It's a fact it can break if you pull it by the leather cord. However it is very easy to repair (one can try  to do this themselves) just clean cord from any old glue and add a little super-glue. Hold it for a minute or so and it is fixed & ready to go again.
