Site: full sun to part shade

USDA Hardiness Zones: 4-9

To Propagate: 60-90 days cold, moist stratification. Seed needs no special pretreatment.

Our native hardy hibiscus. Native to wet soils on the waters edge, found along streams and the banks of ponds, but quite drought tolerant in a garden setting. Native from Canada to the southern states this plant can be grown just about anywhere. Distinguished from other native hardy hibiscus by its three-lobed leaves which resemble a halberd spear, its middle lobe longer than the two lateral ones. Flowers are typically white but can be tinged pink—large (3-5") and very showy. You will notice these flowers from some distance. Flowers open during the day and close by nightfall. Flowering last for about one month.
