For sale is a beautiful Mid-Century pastel horse portrait in the countryside by listed artist Betsy Castleman Damez. Signed Betsy Castleman '59, lower right. Betsy Castleman Damez (American/French, b. 1943) is an American born artist who lives and paints in Paris. This 1959 work was done by the artist as a teenager when she lived in New Jersey, USA.
Castleman Damez is a listed artist on Artnet and has an auction history in France, including the sale of her large oil on canvas painting Moree Basse Jaune, Normandie, in 2012. She is a graduate of L'Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux Arts in Paris and has exhibited in solo and group expositions on both sides of the ocean, beginning in 1984.
This horse pastel has its original mat and is unframed. It measures 24x18 inches in its mat and is in nice vintage condition. The pastel painting will be shipped flat in an art box.
