Circa 1930's - 40's, W.H. "Red" Friesell, Famous 5th Down College Football Referee, Cardboard Granger Tobacco Football Display.   Measures approximately 15" x 19".

Colors are still bold and vibrant.  There is some material loss on the entire right side edge and staining or moisture damage along the bottom.

Friesell has the dubious distinction of being know as the "5th Down" referee.  While working the 1940 Cornell / Dartmouth game, Friesell inadvertently gave Cornell an extra down on the goal line that resulted on Cornell scoring on that extra down.

The display has been shrunk to a piece of cardboard with clear plastic overwrap for protection.
