Russian silver and 24 ct gold-plated flower egg pendant - autumn leaves in enamel

Arthemis is proud to be an official retailer of Russkie Samotsvety (Russia).

Russkie Samotsvety, found in 1912 on the order of Emperor Nicholas II, is a historical follower of the Saint Petersburg jewellery and carving art school of the late 19th and the early 20th centuries, and a successor of the workshops of the great master Carl Faberge.

The custom of giving your friends and relatives eggs at Easter originated in ancient times, when an egg symbolised the spring sun bringing back life, joy, warmth and light. It was customary to offer an egg to pagan gods as well as give eggs to friends and patrons on the first day of the new year and on birthdays. The outstanding Russian jeweller Carl Faberge used the traditional Russian enamel filigree technique to transform the Easter eggs into an independent type of jewellery and produce a number of miniature jewellery masterpieces.

Russkie Samotsvety jewellers were the first in Russia to revive the tradition of making egg jewellery. In spite of swift technology development, the most part of the work is manual which ensures uniqueness of the style and character of every article.
