Title: The Star - A Play About The Theatre

Author: Guy Bolton

Description: Rare. This is an original typewritten script for the play "The Star - A Play About the Theatre", written by Guy Bolton, the theatrical collaborator of P G Wodehouse. The play does not appear to have been published, and we can find no record of it having been produced.

Bound in blue card covers. 11 inches by 8.5 inches. Some leaves have handwritten changes in pencil. In some places, a word has been replaced with a more "British" equivalent, such as "stinker", "blimey" and "tart". It is in good condition with some very light wear and creasing to the edges, not affecting any text (see pictures), and slight browning. Internally clean. Binding sound and square. A rare item.

Guy Bolton (1884-1979) collaborated with Wodehouse from 1916 until Wodehouse's death. This play, set in the Sarah Siddons Home for Retired Actors, features some typical characters, such as an actor who played a butler so often that even in retirement he looks and talks like one.
