This is a new old stock aftermarket starter cable stud repair part. Many starters have stripped, stretched, broken, shortened or otherwise damaged copper studs. I have also seen 5/16” coarse nuts installed on 5/16” fine thread studs. This repair stud takes care of all of these problems by replacing the damaged part of the stud. Before installing this repair stud, first remove the existing nut that holds the stud tight in the starter housing. Then cut off the damaged portion of the stud leaving no more than 7/16” of the stud showing above the metal washer. Then simply thread this repair part on the existing copper stud until it bottoms against the metal washer. Saves you from having to replace the entire copper stud which is soldered to the field coils inside the starter housing which is a BIG repair best left to a starter rebuilding shop. Will not work if your cable stud has been replaced by a coarse threaded stud. Includes a fine threaded nut and lock washer. Box not included.
