This comic pictorial map commemorates the action of the 69th Infantry Division in World War II, from May 1943 to May 1945. It traces the unit's course through the fighting in France and Germany to its joining with Soviet troops at Torgau on the Elbe River on April 24, 1945, days before the German surrender. This iconic meeting is symbolized by an American flag arrow and a Soviet flag arrow coming together to crush the Nazi Swastika, above the phrase "East meets West." It illustrates a pamphlet published in July 1945 as "a review of the accomplishments of this Division," and as "most sincere congratulations and praise for a job well done."
Following the end of World War II, many military units issued decorative maps of their areas of operation intended to commemorate their service.

This map comes with a white border around the image
