There are many reasons why horse owners choose to use a false horse tail. One of the most significant benefits of using a false horse tail is that it enhances the overall appearance of the horse's tail.

A full and long tail can make a horse look healthy and well-groomed, and a false horse tail can help achieve this look without having to wait for the horse's tail to grow out.

This can help make the horse stand out and add an extra level of interest to their appearance when in the showring.

Overall, a false horse tail is a great accessory for horse owners who want to make their horse look their best.

Whether it's for a show or just to add some extra flair to their horse's appearance, a false horse tail is a convenient and practical solution.

Product Features

Is your horse or pony’s tail thin and damaged, spoiling the look of the overall appearance?

No need to despair, with the help of a false tail you can easily transform that final impression.

With the start of the showing season underway, it’s time to assess the turnout of your horse or pony and consider where any improvements can be made.

Something that can be overlooked and which makes a big difference is the quality of the tail.

Damaged, thin or rubbed tails can transform immaculate turnout into a show ring nightmare but by using a false tail you can easily increase the volume or disguise a thin tail to gain the overall look you are aiming for.

False tails from Crusader Equestrian are made from natural hair with a fabric loop at the top making them easy to secure in place.

Easy to attach to your horse.

Our tails are legal in most registered horse shows including AQHA, APHA,PTHA, NSBA, PHBA, and any association that allows hair to hair tail extensions.

How to fit a false tail:

Step 1: Start at the base of the dock, take some hair approx ½ cm thickness, split this into 3 strands from which you can form a plait.

Step 2: Begin to plait a 3 strand plait just as you would to plait your horse’s mane. Make 3 or 4 crossovers before you are ready to put the false tail in.

Step 3: After 3 or 4 crossovers, take one of the strands of the plait and thread it through the loop at the top of the false tail. Continue to plait for approx 2 inches once you have threaded the one strand through the loop.

Step 4: Once you have plaited down 2 inches, put in a rubber band to secure and / or sew the base of the plait. Some people also prefer to put in a couple of stitches around the loop within the plait.

Step 5: Shake your horse’s tail – the false tail will merge inside the existing tail.
