Indian Rosewood Banjo Fingerboard Slotted and Profiled  to Pre War Gibson Scale. Proudly made in Virginia, USA!

Please take the time to read the entire listing before purchasing to insure that you are getting exactly what you need.  Thank you!

This banjo fingerboard is brand new and has never used or installed on any instrument.  It was manufactured here at Acoustic Box LLC and these are the same fingerboards we use when converting Pre War Gibson tenor and Plectrum banjos to 5-string.

These are Indian Rosewood, but we also have a large selection of other woods to chose from and depending on how these sell, we may offer them as well.  So, if this is what you are looking for but you would like to know if we offer these in other varieties of wood or even in left-handed, please feel free to ask.

We started making these in our small Virginia shop because this scale isn’t easy to find (if you can find it at all) and we have clients who own original 5-string banjos from the 1920s through the 1940s that use this exact scale and sometimes they need something reproduced, repaired, and sometimes we build a duplicate neck for them to use while storing their most fragile asset on the old original flathead 5-string (the original neck) in the safe to protect it in order to enjoy their great old banjo a little more worry free.

These fingerboards have 22 frets and as you can see in the pictures with the old original Pre War Granada neck, we’re cutting the fret slots right on the money!  In fact, more than one of my clients who were used to playing conversion necks that used other fingerboards told me that these actually play in tune… and they were certainly qualified to make that observation!

The width of these are at the pre war specifications with the acceptation of the location of the 5th string hump.  If you exactly copy an original Pre War Gibson 5-string fingerboard’s profile, the location of the hole for a modern 5th string tuner will make using a capo at “B” difficult as it will prevent most of the better capos from seating close enough to the 4th fret to produce a solid tone without over-tightening the capo and causing the banjo to go sharp, so the 5th string hump was modified.

These are also a bit thicker than the pre war Gibson banjo fingerboards.  Modern fret wire is usually has a tang that is a little longer and I like to have a little room under the bottom of the tang once it has seated.

The total length of the fingerboard is: 19.75" from the nut seat to the end of the fingerboard past the 22nd fret.

The scale length of this fingerboard is: 26 - 3/8"

The width of the fingerboard at the nut is:   1.100"

The width of the fingerboard at the 4th fret is:   1.250"

The width of the fingerboard at the 5th fret is:   1.525"

The width of the fingerboard at the 12th fret is:   1.662"

The width of the fingerboard at the 22nd Fret is:  1.782"

The thickness of the fingerboard is 0.195”

Because this fingerboard is made of Indian Rosewood it can not shipped abroad, so this is a domestic auction only.

LIMITED QUANTITY

You are purchasing only 1 (one) fingerboard from this buy-it-now listing.  The picture with multiple fingerboards in one shot is only meant to show you that there may be slight variations in grain color and visual texture, if you will.

…and just in case there is any doubt, the Pre War Gibson Granada Banjo Neck in the photographs is being used to prove that our CNC produced fingerboards are cut accurately to the real Pre War scale and it isn’t actually part of what you are purchasing.

Yes, I combine shipping.  If you purchase other items that I have for sale on eBay, I will combine the items and refund you any overages you pay in shipping.  That's just the right thing to do!

I have done my absolute best to photograph and describe these fingerboards, but if you have ANY questions whatsoever, please feel free to contact me.

My family and I thank you for your business!
