Sahlab Popular Egyptian Arabic Hot Sweet Drink Orchid

  • The beverage sahlab is now often made with hot milk instead of water. 

  • Other desserts are also made from salep flour, including salep pudding and salep ice cream. 

  • The Kahramanmaraş region of Turkey is a major producer of sahlab known as Salepi Maraş.

  • Salep is also consumed in Greece, and it is usually sold on the streets as a hot beverage during the cold months of the year.



Ingredients:
Orchid, sugar, Vanilla, coconut, sesame.



Preparation directions:

1- Place 1 liter of milk in a saucepan but set aside 1/2 first.
2- Add sugar, stir over medium heat and bring to a simmer.
3- Mix the sahlab powder 3-4 spoons with the 1/2 cup of milk you set aside earlier and stir until it dissolves completely.
4- Pour the sahlab/milk mixture into the saucepan, Keep whisking for around 5 minutes until the milk thickens.
5- Garnish with cinnamon and nuts according to your liking.
