Background:  My mom has traveled to Africa for more than 30 years doing missions work. This authentic handmade belt was given to my mom as a gift from one of her Maasai friends in Naikarra.

Maasai Bead Work:  The tradition of Maasai bead work dates back hundreds of years. It is customary for the women to know how to do beading, and they work on their craft almost every day. The beaded jewelry by the Maasai women represents the strong culture and tradition of the Kenyan tribe.

The colors of the beads are not only chosen because of the beautiful ensembles they make, but also for their symbolic meaning: RED signifies blood, bravery, and unity. WHITE represents health, peace, and purity. BLUE is the color of the sky and represents energy. GREEN is the color of the grass which signifies the land and production. BLACK represents the people and the struggle they must endure. YELLOW symbolizes the sun, fertility, and growth. ORANGE represents warmth, generosity, and friendship. 

Description: This belt features both U.S.A. flags and Kenya flags. The total length is 55 inches.

Condition:  This handmade Maasai belt has never been used.
