It will last a lifetime if you follow these simple procedures:

1. Fill only until fluid begins to pool at the bottom of the hole.

2. Don’t over tighten and damage plastic threads or “O” ring.

3. Strike hard with flat of the match against magnesium rod.

4. A soaked wick can air out a few seconds for easier lighting.

5. Blow out a flame quickly before fluid in the wick gets low.

6. A wick low on fluid burns itself short and is harder to light.

7. Keep ample lighter fluid in reservoir, but wipe off spillage.

8. Warm it to body temperature before striking in cold weather.

Note:

Once the flame become weaker, you need to add a little lighter fluid to the canister. (The lighter fluid can be gas or kerosene, and neither of them is included in the package).
