Watercolour by Vernon Wethered (1865–1952); Son of Bristol Colliery owner Henry Wethered. Vernon studied at Clifton College between (1875-1884). He then went on to study at Oriel College Oxford and the Slade School of Fine Art, London. He was elected to the New England Art Club in 1932 and exhibited 37 works at the NEAC, 57 at the Redfern Gallery and various other salons.

This is one of a number of watercolours that I am listing individually, from a large portfolio of work by Vernon Wethered. The last images shows a page for the 20th century publication ‘The Artist’. The artical about Vernon Wethered was written by F.G. Mories in 1948 (Not included in this sale).

County Cork, Ireland. Watercolour on paper applied to card. The painting is in very reasonable condition with minor toning and a couple of minor marks/blemishes. Initialed, lower right. also titled and later dated 1928-31
