U.S. Army WOMEN'S Wool Field Shirt, OG-108.    100% wool.     Dated "1975."     Condition is NEW, Unused.    Size 18 (Lg/Xlg).    Has 4-1/2" deep pocket on upper left sleeve for ballpoint pen or ??.    Beautiful, fine wool material; not coarse.    Much nicer finish than the equivalent man's wool field shirt.    Two breast pockets, both of which have two stitched slits on the top of the flaps for (I'm guessing) pens/pencils or whatever.     3-1/2" slits on each side of lower hem, indicating that the shirt was intended to worn outside the trousers.    Single-button cuffs.

I've seen many olive green women's cotton fatigue shirts in my time, but this is the first wool shirt I've had. This shirt, incidentally, was not a personal item of issue, but rather organizational property. It was issued from Supply when one arrived at a new unit, and was returned when departing the unit. It was considered part of one's TA-50 gear.    This shirt is not commonly seen on the civilian market, in army surplus stores, for example.

1978 was the final year of existence for the WAC (Womens Army Corps) since their creation in 1943.  During WW2, of the approximate 15 million Americans who served in the military, 150,000 were WACs.         In its later decades, Ft. McClellan, Alabama, was the headquarters and basic training center for the WAC.
