This watch comes from my personal jewelry collection.  I have collected Native American jewelry since the 1970's.  Beautiful jet Inlay watch tips by "Gilbert Nelson",  born 1960 in Keams Canyon, Az, resides in Canoncito, NM and has been active since 1988.  He is the master of channel inlay work jewelry.  He is brother to Jerry T. Nelson another renowned silversmith.  Gilbert studied with Harry Morgan and has paid his dues to rightfully claim the role of Master Silversmith.   Gilberts jewelry designs are poetry come alive through silver.  His modern contemporary pieces blend high tech with traditional, making his pieces highly sought after.  With each new piece he reveals his main engineering interest because he not only creates beauty, but builds the jewelry for balance as well as function by its fluid symmetry.

The high quality jet is set in a heavy foundation of sterling silver. Jet is much lighter weight than Onyx.  Jet is a type of lignite, a precursor to coal.  Jet is not considered a true mineral, but rather a mineraloid as it has an organic origin, being derived from decaying wood under extreme pressure.  Jet is a favored stone by Native American artisans.  As you can tell from the photos the watch tips are in beautiful pre-owned condition.  Gilbert is known for using high quality stones.  The inlay is very smooth to the touch, no roughness, no highs or lows.  The watch face is a Sieko and I just put a new battery in it.  Neither the watch face nor the expansion band are sterling silver nor Native American made.  They are included with the tips as a convenience so you can wear the watch immediately.
Never out of style, Southwest jewelry is an investment in enjoyment to last a lifetime.

Gilbert's brother Jerry made a pair of jet earrings that goes perfectly with these watch tips.  You can see them in my eBay store.
