WOW .... this is a really fabulous antique family seal matrix which I have been unable to find out which family surname owned it.
So it is made of sterling silver with London 1907 marks with the makers initials WH which could be a number of makers.
It has green guilloche enamel as well on the column with a nice effect of ripples. It has a small area of damage on this enamel.. its tiny but I will mention it.
At the top stood proud is a sterling silver fine model of a dog which looks like a Pug .... he has red ruby inset eyes.. they may be glass or gems ?!
At the seal bottom part it has a really fine engraved motto VIGILO ET SPERO which means " I watch and I hope " in Latin.
Above this is the family Livery Crest which in my opinion is a BEARS HEAD with a muzzle on it. It may be a dog of course but I think its a bear.
The seal matrix is really fine and will suit any collector of such items or you may be into Dog collectables then this would suit you as well.
It is 3cm tall x 2cm dia. base x 2cm long dog x 7mm wide and the whole item weighs approx.... 19 grams.
