To view the sun safely you will have to have a filter with an optical density of OD5.0, which for photographers is ND100,000. This in fact means that only 0.001% of light is allowed through the filter. You can these days buy solar film and then mount it onto your telescope yourself, but the film is normally fragile. If it gets a scratch, you could potentially blind yourself. Crinkled foil could well spoil the image quality. You can buy pre-made solar filters, but they are expensive and relatively.

It is very easy to use these pre-made filters, just push into your telescope objective and off you go.
The sale is for one pre-made solar filter for telescopes. I have these filters for telescopes with different objective diameter: 60mm, 70mm, 76mm, 80mm, 90mm, 102mm, 114mm, 120mm and 150mm. I was told by my supplier that the filter will fit any telescope with the same objective size. I am not so sure as I am concerned that different telescope may have different tube diameter. Thus I would like you to check the following information before bidding to make sure the filter will work for your telescope. As these solar filters will work as a cap to put on your telescope objective tube, it would be more accurate if you measure the tube diameter as different telescope with same nominal objective diameter may have different tube size.
- The 60mm solar filter will fit a telescope with an external objective tube diameter of about 92mm.
- The 70mm solar filter will fit a telescope with an external objective tube diameter of about 100mm. It can also be used on a telescope with an internal tube diameter of 105mm although it is designed for external tube fitting.
- The 76mm solar filter will fit a telescope with an internal objective tube diameter of about 113mm. It can also be used on a telescope with an external tube diameter of 107mm although it is designed for internal tube fitting.
- The 80mm solar filter will fit a telescope with an external objective tube diameter of about 100.5mm. It can also be used on a telescope with an internal tube diameter of 105mm although it is designed for external tube fitting.
- The 90mm solar filter will fit a telescope with an internal objective tube diameter of about 109mm. It can also be used on a telescope with an external tube diameter of about 104mm although it is designed for internal tube fitting.
- The 102mm solar filter will fit a telescope with an internal objective tube diameter of about 112mm. It can also be used on a telescope with an external tube diameter of 106mm although it is designed for internal tube fitting (the second picture showing one filter from back and hopefully you will see what I mean by internal and external fitting.).
- The 114mm solar filter will fit a telescope with an internal objective tube diameter of about 130mm. It can also be used on a telescope with an external tube diameter of about 124mm although it is designed for internal tube fitting.
- The 120mm solar filter will fit a telescope with an internal objective tube diameter of about 140mm. It can also be used on a telescope with an external tube diameter of 132mm although it is designed for internal tube fitting.
- The 150mm solar filter will fit a telescope with an internal objective tube diameter of about 174mm. It can also be used on a telescope with an external tube diameter of 170mm although it is designed for external tube fitting.
