The 1981 US Open was a tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts at the USTA National Tennis Center in New York City in New York in the United States. It was the 101st edition of the US Open and was held from September 1 to September 13, 1981. 

Two-time defending champion John McEnroe defeated Björn Borg in a rematch of the previous year's final, 4–6, 6–2, 6–4, 6–3 to win the Men's Singles tennis title at the 1981 US Open. Due to his later retirement from the sport, the final would be the last major match of Borg's career.
