Sometimes these become faulty and need replacing and are common tools which are replaced in RRoD repairs. They are a mostly standard piece for all Xbox 360 Consoles (Arcade, Elite, E and Slims). These are commonly removed from the motherboard (and detaching the heatsink in which they are connected) to re-heat the motherboard's connecting points, reconnecting them and allowing a proper connection to be made for repairing the Red ring of death.
