It has been 50 years since West German Chancellor Willy Brandt spontaneously fell to his knees at a monument to the victims of the Warsaw uprising. When the last 50,000 Jews realized they were being taken to death camps they revolted en masse. Unfortunately none of these people survived this. It has been 50 years since Willy Brandt fell to his knees, which is why Germany has decided to issue a 2 Euro coin with this as its subject. On the face of the coin Chancellor Willy Brandt is depicted on his knees in front of the 'Heroes of the Ghetto' monument. Furthermore, the text '50 Jahre Kniefall von Warsaw' (50 years of Warsaw Genuection) is shown. Beneath the image of the monument is the letter 'D'. This letter D indicates the country name Deutschland (Germany). The year 2020 is shown in the centre left of the coin. Below the year is the letter indicating in which mint the coin was struck. German coins are struck in one of ve mints each of which are indicated by a letter, i.e. A = Berlin, D = Munich, F = Stuttgart, G = Karlsruhe and J = Hamburg.
