It has been suggested this could be from the Victorian ARMY PAY CORPS ... can you see those initials in the monogram !? ...possibly.....more research needed I think.. thanks to Peter for your suggestion.
An antique horse brass which has the initials AR in the centre surrounded by foliage and a crown on top.
A bit of a strange one here cast heavy brass ... Early Royal crown at the top with the raised circular centre and leafy foliage around.
Monogram cypher - cipher in the middle which looks like AR .. as in Anne Reign ....Queen Anne 1702 - 1714. It is not impossible as they were making very similar Livery carriage badges like this around this time for the aristocratic families in England.
But is it AR the monogram or is it GR ..so one of the early King George's I - II - III but they tend to have different cyphers don't they.
It is not a VR .. if so what's all the lines before which certainly looks like an A to me.
I could be wrong of course.. it wouldn't be the first time I have described something wrong. I am all ears if someone knows what the brass is and the date of it.
No maker's marks etc.
On the back its got the remains of 9 areas of solder where the small wires would have been used to attach it to the leather harness.
There is a HOLE just under the crown which has been put in at a later time.
It measures approx. 4 and 1/4 inches x 2 and 5/8 inches.

Scale is usually an English 1 penny coin which is 20mm dia....that is just short of 7/8ths inch dia.
