This is the best performing radio kit of this type I have found. Good sensitivity, stable and selective.

Basically a complete radio in a 3 pin device! 

Unfortunately, just about every circuit you find uses an inferior setup method for the AGC (Automatic Gain Control) and this gives the chip a reputation of poor selectivity and instability. 

The circuit used in this kit is little know over here in Europe and was discovered back in the mid 80’s by a company called Technicraft from Australia. 

I can say that this is the best performance circuit I have tried and I was very pleasantly surprised how well such a simple radio can be made to work. 

The selectivity has been enhanced further by a modification to the coupling between the tuned circuit (the filter) and the radio chip. 

This would be a great kit to get someone started in electronics or even for yourself .

The instructions un-like many kits are comprehensive, about 14 pages and in English rather than just a parts list and a few words in Chinese like many kits for sale via eBay.

Needs a single AAA 1.5v battery to power the finished Kit, works with standard headphones (the type that comes with mobile phones/MP3 players are  great for this)
