This is a Chinese painting in a style popular in the Republic Period between ca 1920 and 1930

The painting shows a boy sitting between auspicious symbols like a cat, peach and a rat on a basket near grapes. Most of them represent long life and good fortune. The painting is done on silk. In the same period these kind of scenes on silk were also made in a simmailar manner with silk needlework. There is also caligraphy done in ink above the scene.

Condition: Good, the painting has still fine colors. There is some age related wear like some spots. The wooden frame shows it s age but in my opinion  also ads a charm to the painting because of that. The painting is behind glass. Because of the glass there is some reflection visible. Therefore the colors and details are shown less sharp then they really are.
