Victoria is the capital city of the Canadian province of British Columbia, on the southern tip of Vancouver Island off Canada’s Pacific coast.  The city has a population of 85,792, and the Greater Victoria Area has a population of 367,770.  It is the southernmost major city in Western Canada and is about 60 miles south-west from British Columbia’s largest city of Vancouver on the mainland and about 60 miles from Seattle as the plane flies.
Known as “The Garden City”, Victoria is an attractive city and popular tourism destination that was originally a British settlement beginning in 1843.  The city has retained a large number of its historic buildings, in particular its two most famous landmarks, Parliament Buildings, built in 1897 and the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia opened in 1908.
Douglas Street is named after Sir James Douglas, the second Governor of the Colony of Vancouver Island.  A segment the Trans-Canada Highway, the main part of Douglas Street runs 3 miles from Dallas Road on the Georgia Strait to just north of Saanich Road, where the Trans-Canada curves towards the Western Communities.  The street forms the main north-south route through downtown Victoria.
This is a nice card published by the “Gowen Sutton Co. Ltd”, located in Vancouver B.C from 1921 to 1960, and was a publisher of real photo and printed postcards of the Canadian West.   Many of their cards were hand tinted in a simple manner striving for style rather than realism.  Their real photo cards were made in Canada while their printed cards were printed in England.
The card offered is one of the hand tinted cards real photos and is in good condition.  There is minor wear in general but a small tear of the lower edge.  The image is clean and clear except for some postal ink upper right.  It is a busy street scene and there are some cars tinted pink and green and an awning on the right tinted green.

The colors on the images are a more neutral B&W than the scan
