1845 $5 The White Water Valley Canal Company note from Connersville, Indiana.

The White Water Valley Canal was negatively impacted by the Panic of 1837. It resumed construction in 1842 and was finally completed in 1847. Soon after, the canal was damaged by severe flooding to a key stretch of the canal leading to its permanent closure. The company was forced into foreclosure proceedings in 1855.

This note features a great canal scene above the title flanked by "5" dies.

This note grades Very Fine with a few minor hinge spots on the reverse.
