ITEM DESCRIPTION:

Here is an Absolutely Beautiful Signed & Numbered (S&N) Limited Edition (Ed. 450) Color Offset Print of the 13th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln Who is Reading a Letter titled, “Dear Mr. Lincoln”, after the original painting by the listed painter & sculptor, ‘Henry J. Schmidt’ (American, 1951-), whose printed ‘H’ (in circle) and signature ‘Henry Schmidt’ appears lower right in the image corner and whose hand-written in pencil signature appears lower right in the outer margin area just beneath the image. Please see brief artist biography below.

Print Info: The edition number, ‘89/450’, appears hand written in pencil lower left in the outer margin area just beneath the image, and the printed title appears lower middle respectively. There is no publisher info printed on the piece at all and . The Print is on a nice smooth medium-weight off-white wove paper stock.

Size & Condition: The size of Print with wide margins is 19-7/16” x 25-7/16”, Image size is 15-3/4” x 21”. The Print is in Excellent Rare+ condition for its age with absolutely no color fade—wonderful rich color and tones! The Litho has been in a drawer amongst other lithos & prints since it was purchased by the Meibohm family and hasn’t seen the light of day in all this time—it’s as beautiful as the day it was printed and is as ‘mint’ as any collector could hope to find in its original never-framed condition and would make the perfect addition to any Abraham Lincoln or U.S. Presidential/History collection. No tears & no foxing. No real or significant damage at all on this gorgeous piece with the tiny and completely negligible exceptions of; Extremely minimal (only a few) slight & very small crescent-creases here & there in the outer margin areas (none in image area) and small dog-ear bends in the lower left outer margin corner, which aren’t really worth mentioning and are negligible since the outer margins can easily be trimmed off or matted & framed out. This beautiful ltd. ed. signed & numbered print has never been framed which is always more desirable to collectors since it has never been exposed to older non-archival materials, matburn or lightfade.

Brief Artist Biography: Henry J. Schmidt (American, 1951-) Western New York painter, sculptor and educator, known for his oil and acrylic paintings, portraits of people & animals, religious/inspirational paintings, war paintings & drawings, illustration/digital illustration, charcoal & pencil drawings, sculptures, photography and ltd. ed. prints. Schmidt was born December 26, 1951 and raised in Buffalo, NY. He studied art at Syracuse University where he earned BFA in Painting & Illustration in 1974, and his Master of Education in Art and General Studies from SUNY College at Buffalo in 1981.

From 1975-1982, Schmidt worked as a freelance illustrator and graphic designer before being hired as Art Director for WKBW-TV in Buffalo, NY where he worked from 1982-89, and where he won a Gold Broadcast Designers Association Award for his graphic work in “Technical Difficulties” in 1985. He left WKBW-TV in February of 1989, to take a position with the Fisher-Price toy company (subsidiary of Mattel since 1993) based out of East Aurora, NY where he worked for over 24 years; first as Manager Product Art (1989-1994), then as Senior Manager Product Art (1994-2000) and later as Director of Product Art & Sculpture (2000-2013) from which he retired in 2013.

Since 2014, he has been self-employed with his own firm, Henry Schmidt Art & Design, where he provides creative direction for Fortune 500 clients, senior level executives, merchandisers and buyers to support marketing plans and brand strategies throughout the Buffalo/Niagara and New York areas. In addition, he is also a Roycroft Renaissance Artisan in sculpture, as well as the Buffalo Maritime Center’s first artist-in-residence, where he is involved with the development of the Buffalo Maritime Bronze Foundry teaching other artists and members of the community to cast bronze.

Schmidt has exhibited his artwork in several group shows throughout Western New York including, the Burchfield Penney Art Center, Buffalo, NY (2012, 2016), the Artists Group Gallery in Buffalo, NY (2017, 2018) the Kenan Center, Lockport, NY, and The Benjaman Gallery in Buffalo.

Commissioned work has included the 155th New York Infantry Regiment Monument titled, “At the Ready” which commemorates Civil War veterans from Buffalo that included men from Companies I & K, who were mostly Irish immigrant volunteers and were the only one out of the five Civil War regiments not memorialized in Buffalo up to that point. The large bronze and granite monument was permanently installed at the Buffalo and Erie County Military & Naval Park along Buffalo’s inner harbor (formerly known as The Buffalo Naval and Servicemen’s Park) and was dedicated on September 28, 2002. Schmidt is also a Civil War reenactor with the 155th NY Volunteer Infantry and some of his reenactment buddies served as models for the monument. Schmidt stated about the design, "My design depicts common Civil War infantry soldiers standing ready to defend our nation’s flag, symbolizing the vigilance freedom requires. The flag also extends forward, beyond the edge of the monument as if to offer freedom to all. By honoring the 155th, our heritage is remembered through recognition of their great sacrifice." —Henry Schmidt

EMAILING US: eBayers, at all costs, please use eBay's email system only (no outside email addresses) with any questions you may have. eBay's email system GUARANTEES we get your email and more importantly, that you get ours. A lot of servers in the last few years have started using newer SPAM filters, and there have been a lot of problems with GOOD emails not getting through correctly, and being returned as undeliverable. We have had numerous problems in the past communicating with our eBayers outside of eBay because of it.

COLLECTORS & DEALERS: Please DO NOT email us (inside or outside of eBay's email system) with any offers to stop an auction early. It would not be fair to the rest of the eBay Worldwide community if we did that. THE HIGHEST BIDDER -OR- HIGHEST OFFER WINS IT!!!!!

Thank you from the Staff at Meibohm Fine Arts, GOOD LUCK & HAPPY BIDDING!!!
