Estate fresh small watercolor portrait dated "March 1832" (possibly '52, but I think the initial dot of watercolor contact makes it a 3). The size of the visible paper is appx. 6.5" x 5". Framed size is 7 1/8" x 5.5".
Handsome bearded gent sits in a chair, facing left. He wears a blue jacket and has a very high neck black collar. I think the image is very well executed. I have not opened the frame to see if it is signed on the back. Unknown artist (but I wager one of YOU has a guess or three). I think North American, but if someone says European I won't argue too hard.
A few minor flecks off of frame. Nothing horrible. Need additional photos? Let me know specifically what you want to see and I'll make it happen.
