On December 17, 1903, at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, the Wright brothers, Orville and Wilbur, achieved the first controlled, powered flight in an airplane.

This first day cover with historical information panel measures about 9" by 10" and issued by the Postal Commemorative Society as part of Celebrating the 20th Century collection.
