Habitat: Grows in scrub and thin forests on rocky and grassy places on the Black Sea coast, northeastern Bulgaria, the Danube Valley, Balkan and Central Balkan Mountains, Central and Eastern Rhodopes Tundzha plane western frontier mountains and Struma valley until about 1000 meters altitude.
Plant Description: Perennial herb with short rhizome and fusiform bold, tuber roots. Stems 50-90 cm tall, grooved, smooth, unbranched. Leaves are consistent plumose 2 times or triple divided with narrow elliptic or ovate to broadly triangular end units atop deeply cut or wholesale jagged.
The colors are dark or light red, less pink, 7-13 cm in diameter, placed on top of a single stem.
The cup is petlistni and petals 8-12.
Stamens numerous, with red handles.
The fruit is a composite consisting of 2-3 velvety fuzzy mehunki, each with several black shiny seeds.
It blooms from May to June.
