This
listing is for a gorgeous, vintage brooch by *LEA STEIN of Paris. It
was crafted in the late 1960s, and is made of a cellulose compound,
perfected by Lea and Fernand Steinberger. The
brooch is in the shape of twin Felix cats, with white pearlized faces and tails, and purple/brown bodies, which have been textured to create a shimmering effect. The cats' smiling eyes are cut out from the plastic, revealing a brown background. Brown ears and tiny red noses add to the cuteness. The back of the brooch has a pin closure stamped:
LEA STEIN.
This is a very collectable piece, as it has two characters instead of one.
*Lea
Stein began producing her iconic jewellery during the 1960s, when her
husband, Fernand Steinberger, invented a process of laminating cellulose
acetate sheets (Rhodoid) - often layering them with small pieces of
fabric or lace, and creating unique and fascinating patterns, with up to
20 layers of cellulose.
Condition: Excellent.
