Belle Isle is a 982-acre island park located in the Detroit River between Detroit, Michigan, developed in the late 19th century.  It consists of Belle Isle as well as several surrounding islets.  The U.S. – Canada border is in the channel south of Belle Isle such that the island is in the U.S.
Belle Isle is home to the Belle Isle Aquarium, the Belle Isle Conservatory, the Belle Isle Nature Center, the James Scott Memorial Fountain, the Dossin Great Lakes Museum, a municipal golf course, a half-mile swimming beach and numerous other monuments and attractions.  The Island was named Belle Isle in 1845 in honor of Miss Isabelle Cass, daughter of the Governor.  In the 1880s the city planned to develop the island as a park and hired prominent American urban park designer Frederick Law Olmsted and the first structure, a casino, opened in 1887.
The Detroit Boat Club, on the island, rented canoes and small boats starting in 1902 and canoe riders would gather on the river or stop at the nearby Band Shell to listen to concerts.  Canoeing was and maybe still is, the leading sport at Belle Isle, Detroit's leading playground. Its 702 acres are threaded with many miles of canals and lakes, affording an ideal spot in which the light little craft cruise about by thousands.
This is a beautiful “Detroit Phostint” that I found sold in 2019 but not since.  I also found the image at the Detroit Library Archive dated 1910.  This card is in very good condition with just minor wear and a clean, clear, and nicely colored image.  The reverse is clean

The colors on the card may vary due to the scanner settings and screen projections.
Unless otherwise noted, I use Wikipedia, Playle's and Metropostcard for research and try to be as accurate as possible.  Corrections appreciated.
