This is truly a rare piece of unusual Art. It was handmade by DEBORA MUHL in 1994. Ms. Muhl is an amazing creative artist. She has works in The Mint Museum in Charlotte, N.C., The Museum of Fine Arts Boston, The Fuller Craft Museum in Brockton, MA, and the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris, France. Other than its beauty the greatest thing about this basket is the original tag that lists all of the materials the artist used some of which are flax, sweet grass, paint, linen, feathers, beads and more. The painted design and the beads encircle the top of the gourd and it is signed “MUHL” and dated 94 on the bottom. With the lid on it is approximately 13 1/2” high and it is approximately 8 1/2” in diameter. This is a lasting treasure.
