Trinidad/Flesh | Mid-Century Modern / Atomic Ranch Leno Weave
Drapery Fabric | 10 yd Lengths
Item Description. A vintage textile most likely
manufactured in the 1960’s (early?) with wide white nylon or similar warp
ribbon and meandering flesh-colored cotton weft yarns of different widths held
apart in an open/leno weave. This is a premium, high-end,
high-quality luxury fabric created to last. The
distinctive midcentury modern aesthetic is evident both in design and
in color. The fabric is in like new condition with no evidence of
fading, oxidation, or “rot”. The mechanical strength of the
fabric is qualitatively high; quick and dirty testing by standing on one or
side end of a section of fabric and pulling and yanking with all ones might
breaks only a few of the leno filaments with heroic efforts. It is not
fragile. Buy with confidence. Swatches are available for buyer
evaluation; please inquire.
It is exceedingly rare to have a unique fabric of this age and
design aesthetic intact in new old stock condition. If authenticity
is a primary concern, then this fabric is a must-have. You will not
find it anywhere else. Perfect for authentic, period correct restorations, or
to add a touch of the midcentury to a contemp0rary modern esthetic. Would
also have application in TV, movie, and stage production &
design.

Notes. This fabric is surprisingly soft to the
touch only feeling rough along fold lines which expose the edge of the wide

drape. The meandering-colored cotton weft yarns add visual
interest and results in a more abstract and modern weave design. Not
your grandma’s drapes unless she was a very fancy lady.
