Item Description

This is for a repair service for one IBM 5154 Enhanced Color Display, or 5175 Professional Graphics Display.  Replacement of all 50 electrolytic capacitors is included in the price.

YOU ARE NOT BUYING A MONITOR!!!  YOU ARE SHIPPING YOUR BROKEN MONITOR TO ME FOR REPAIR!!!!

Ignore the long handling time; I will return it to you one week after your monitor arrives here unless I need to special order a part.

It covers diagnosis and repair of most common problems such as power supply failure, bad capacitors, a distorted, off color, or out of sync image, or smoking power supply filter capacitors.  An overall tuneup of the various service adjustments such as color balance, convergence, and focus is also included.

The price doesn't include specialty parts such as the high voltage transformer, picture tube, or other custom parts.  These parts don't often fail, but if one is needed, the cost will be added to the price.

If you decline the estimate, or if the part is not available, I will return the monitor un-repaired for the cost of shipping plus $75 for diagnosis.

Repairs are guaranteed for 60 days, but the buyer must cover all shipping costs in both directions for warranty work.

Simply hit buy it now, and I will give you instructions on where  to ship your monitor for repair.  You are welcome to drop off your monitor in person if you are near Austin, Texas.

If you would like to include your own pre-paid return shipping label in the box, select local pickup when you checkout.

These monitors are fragile and must be well packed.  I recommend using a heavy duty (double thickness cardboard) box that is at least a 22" cube.  Bubble wrap plus Styrofoam board, or stiff foam rubber sheets are recommended.  The rear cover and grill are particularly fragile.  I usually ship monitors face down so that the weight of the CRT is resting on the front rather than pulling on the mounting screws.  Most of the weight of a CRT is in the thick front glass, so it's best to have it at the bottom of the package.

Even when packed perfectly, there is still a chance that the 35 year old plastic case could be broken in shipping.  I'm not responsible for shipping damage.
