Description: A very nice example of the first printing of the first edition, with the the original clam shell slip case. Original green gilt cloth hardback in leather spined slipcase. 7.5 inches by 5 inches. 312 pages with two page publisher's catalogue to the rear. 

The slipcase is in very nice condition with some scuffing to the spine, but titles remain bright. The book is in very attractive condition with titles and covers remaining bright, and very light bumping to the spine ends and corner tips (see pictures). Binding sound and square. Internally clean, bright and free of inscriptions. 

James Stephens (1880-1950) was an Irish novelist and poet. He was dedicated Irish Republican and a close friend of Thomas MacDonagh, who was then editor of The Irish Review Republican. His influential account of the 1916 Easter Rising, Insurrection in Dublin, describes the effect of the deaths by execution of his friend Thomas MacDonagh.
