Glenolden is a borough located in eastern Delaware County, Pennsylvania about 9 miles southwest of Philadelphia.  It is bordered to east and southeast by the borough of Folcroft, to the southwest by Norwood, to the northwest by Ridley Township, to the north by Darby Township, and to the northeast by Collindale and was incorporated as a Borough from both Ridley & Darby Townships in 1894.  The name comes from the Glen Olden Mills and was originally two words.   Its population was 7,153 at the 2010 census.
The mill was built by Thomas Shipley in 1755 who named it after the pretty glen where it was located and his mother’s maiden name.  It then went through a succession of hands until it burnt to the ground in 1896.
Chester Pike is one of the oldest roads in Pennsylvania that was once a toll road with horse and buggies and also the main road through Glenolden.  U.S. Route 13, Chester Pike, is a highway running from Fayetteville, North Carolina north to Morrisville Pennsylvania. The route enters the state from Delaware in Marcus Hook, Delaware County then travels 49 miles through the Philadelphia metropolitan area, then continues southwest through Glenolden and joins 495 in Claymont as far as I can tell.
The card, a lithograph, was published by the “Mayrose Co.” who was a publisher of view-cards that largely depicted scenes of New Jersey, many with themes of the modern highway and bridges.  Most of their cards were black & white collotypes. This one captures “Chester Pike, Glen Olden Pa.” and has a Drug Store and a Lunch Café as well as era autos in the image.  There is a major crease from top to bottom but other than that there is just minor wear and a clean, clean image.  There is a message on the reverse which is clean.

The colors on the card may vary due to the scanner settings and screen projections.
Unless otherwise noted, I use Wikipedia, Playle's and Metropostcard for research and try to be as accurate as possible.  Corrections appreciated.
