This instrument is an exemplary instrument from a bygone era of British Production, when brass instruments were made in Edgware Road, London, England, UK; which, were supplied for some sixty-years to all kinds of orchestras, schools, and colleges during the 20th C, i.e. when music was part-and-parcel of the educational curriculum.  In the late 70’s the factory began to wind down, and by the late 80’s production had ceased and factory closed as market economic forces changed the landscape and Britain was not able to compete on the world stage on production.  This trumpet was purchased from the very factory outlet showroom in London, around the mid-80’s; serial number: 612-720416.

The Besson 600 Bb student trumpet is in fantastic working condition and possesses an immediate clean balanced tonal response; which, will be a wonderfully delightful aspect for any beginner from age 9 upwards; and, this aspect will encourage an interest in the intricacies of musical timbre and tonality, and, the creation of tones; which, in turn, will facilitate the framework for good musicianship.   

Specifications:

A light weight Besson student trumpet; ML bore size measuring 11.65mm / 0.458 inch approx; 4.842 inch Bell; 2 piece yellow brass construction. 

 This instrument is an example of good engineering and design from that bygone era of British Production; and, is in excellent working condition.   It had a couple of dings which have been taken out is not noticeable, but, one very small ding on the first bend from the bell remains, and can also be taken out if necessary; but, it is nothing untoward; see photos; and, the silver plating is very good condition; the wear on the silver-plating on the main-tuning slide is in this very location only; see photo, but, nothing untoward, and, if required, can be spot-silver-plated; but, if cared for, will be alright anyway.   It could be said that, it all adds to the character of this robust instrument, which, possess a bright and lively sound.   The bell is yellow brass, as is the trumpet; which, its gentle, cheerful sound characteristics of the instrument are expressed directly, producing finer nuances; which, would satisfy any discerning student who embarks on their journey of learning and practising the repertoire material through to the final 5th Grade in Jazz, or 8th Grade in Classical ABRSM Exams, or, otherwise; for the purposes of being enjoyed, and, to enhance life.


The valves and pistons, and screws thread for the top and bottom caps are in fantastic working condition, as are the tuning slides, and the water keys, buttons and felts.  This instrument comes with cleaning cloth, cleaning and maintenance brushes, valve oil; and, the V Bach 7C Megatone mouthpiece, which, possesses a better throat than the standard throat; it is one drill size larger than the standard mouthpiece, which, in turn, will make a difference in the way it will feel, play and sound; in-itself, costs around £95 i.e. if these are available, as these are only made in the Bach, US factory, and now, there is an additional customs charge+ VAT + admin fee applied, which can take the overall cost to approx £120, but, as this is used and fantastic condition and sterilised clean, this is usable straightaway; also, for added safety, there is a strong mouthpiece contoured shaped pvc-sleeve to protect this mouthpiece when not in use, which, can easily slide in to the case, or placed, in to the secure trouser / coat pocket, for ease of access for embouchure practice when away from the instrument; and, the original Besson case, which, is in fantastic working condition, and safeguards against knocks; thus, protects the instrument when not in use. Trumpet stand not included but, you can purchase this at approx £36 or thereabouts; however, if you desperately require this, then, I can include but at an additional cost of £36, as this German made stand are the epitome of brilliantly manufactured stands; whose, legs unscrew and fold in to the conical- shaped secure-bell support; thus, enabling it to fit snugly in to the bell when placed in the case. 

*Megatone - Mega Tone starts with genuine Vincent Bach mouthpiece designs and more than doubles the outside mass. This darkens the sound and allows playing at higher dynamic levels. The result is a warmer, more powerful sound that adds a new dimension to concert, pop and jazz playing.
