You are bidding on 10 PURPLE LEAF GRAPE SEEDS - Vitis vinifera 'Purpurea'.
Commonly known as the Purple-leaved grape vine, Teinturier grape or Claret grape, Vitis vinifera ‘Purpurea’ is a vigorous, deciduous, large tendril-climber with deeply-lobed leaves.
This form of the Common Grape is anything but common; actually it is profoundly elegant and it’s relatively dwarf.
Given favorable conditions it can reach a height of approximately 4-8 metres with a spread of 1.5-2.5 metres. The leaves emerge a claret-red in the spring, and these gorgeous pigments will deepen almost to black by late summer, turning crimson-tinted into the autumn. Some leaves might be greenish first .
The grape clusters are irregularly cone-shaped and nearly black, just plain rich and opulent studding the purplish leaves.
ZONE: 5 to 9
Edible parts: The ripe grape can be eaten but tastes better after the first frost. They are not that large so eating them as a trail snack is suggested. Making juice from these is a great way to benefit from their goodness and the grapes freeze well so they can be used for juice throughout the winter. The leaves are also edible.
