Gordon Brown (b. 1962 - )American artist Gordon Brown grew up near Grand Junction, Colorado where he still resides today. While today he is a renowned landscape painter, he didn’t begin to venture into exploring his artistic side until later in high school when he bought his very first set of oil paints. Despite his lack of any prior painting experience, Brown managed to win best in show as well as first place with two of his pieces in the high school art show. With his interest sparked, he went on to learn from and work with many famous artists such as Mark Rohrig, Jack Kephart, and Shang Ding.  It was with Jack Kephart that Gordon began to hone and perfect his practice of painting on location. Gordon is also heavily influenced by the Tonalist painters of the 19th century. He considers it his “responsibility as a painter to record and reveal the natural beauty of the landscape as faithfully as possible.”  Gordon’s work has been featured in “Reflections of Reverie”, a 1997 exhibition of the American tonalist painters. Today, his work can be found in numerous public and private collections the world over.
