Antique, early 20th century Chinese black lacquer 'coffee' table  with carved soap-stone figures in relief, mother of pearl and 'bone' features, carved rosewood base and a heavy plate glass top. The carved base has a scalloped frieze with flying dragon heads and further heads carved at each corner.(see photos)

Within an 18th century black and gold landscape, maybe a palace ?,  a number of courtesan-style figures stand, one bringing a scroll to the seated figure.  The figures and their clothing are beautifully carved in relief and coloured.  In the background, in the moonlight, stands a temple on an island.

Size is 40" x 20" x 15.5"

This is a lovely eye-catching, decorative table which is functional as well as being a stylish piece of furniture.  I can see no damage or defects, just a few scratches to the glass.

The panel top and plate glass are both in very good condition with no losses.
