1 of a number of really fabulous antique wax seal impressions which some date to the Medieval - 19th Century period, most are ecclesiastical - religious related. Some are attached to the envelope letter entire, some are cut off.  Of greater interest in my opinion are a number of Medieval period seal impressions which are into a hard brown resin like material. Some have scratched on wording on their backs telling you about the seal and where they were found etc. Some very nice seal impressions here which may be the only known examples as the actual seal matrix may well be lost now. Some fabulous heraldic and armorial coats of arms with legends quite readable. Very interesting lot and well collected today as they were in the Georgian - Victorian period by the aristocracy whilst on their Grand Tours.

All this collection have my #MS prefix.

This is an antique resin impression of a medal depicting a gent sat on a chair named James Watt. It also has his birth date 1736 and death date 1819.

A bronze example of this medal can be seen in the British Museum.

In collectable condition with normal signs of age and use wear. The impression does have some surface scuffs and may have small chips and cracks. The resin is warped slightly out of shape.
Please see pictures for more details and visual confirmation of condition.

The impression itself measures approx. 40mm in diameter. This one is bent out of shape.. warped with age and heat.

This would suit someone into coins - medals - seals and get them framed up as a group as a wall furnishing or just to research study.

My stock ref: in #MS drawer.
