No you can get a really great looking custom subwoofer enclosure for your 87-06 YJ or TJ 2-Door Wrangler. Way nicer than those generic-looking boxes you've seen. With the huge success of our JK box, we have been getting tons of request to make a box for the previous model Wrangler. So on the heels of that box, we have made a very similar box for YJ and TJ. This box is forward fire, which helps force more bass to the front where the it can be heard and felt the most. Especially if you like to run without your top. The subs are recessed and held back away from the seat over 2" for plenty of clearance. Plus by not having speakers facing the rear, the box is disguised and more secure than an ordinary box with speakers facing out. No one will suspect you have subs, so opening your gate in public is much safer. There is also a channel built into the top of the box that allows the user to reach down in order to access the seat latch, so the seat can be easily folded down and forward. There is no restriction to the seat movement with this box in place. If you are looking for a spot to mount an amp, we found ample space on the floor under the front edge of the seat, which worked out very nice.
