	ITEM DESCRIPTION: Here is an Absolutely Beautiful Vintage Circa 1965-1969 Color Halftone Lithographic Print of the Legendary & Highly Desirable Antique Classic Car for Collectors titled, “Vauxhall 1924 (30/98)”, after the original painting illustration by the legendary internationally known vehicle & motorcycle designer, teacher & author, ‘Hans Albrecht Muth’ (German, 1935-). We currently have other vintage prints of antique cars listed from the same portfolio series, so please have a look! Brief Artist Bio: Hans A. Muth (German, 1935-) was born in Rathenow (Westhavelland district) Brandenburg, Germany in 1935. After WWII, his family moved to the west and after graduating from secondary school in Solingen as a trained toolmaker, he then attended the Werkkunstschule in Wuppertal for two semesters as well as continued his autodidactic training. As a freelance graphic artist and designer, Muth initially worked in automotive advertising and trade press industries illustrating automobile catalogs for Porsche, Mercedes, Opel and VW as well as illustrated several portfolios published through The Ariel Press, London, England. He also drew design proposals for contemporary sports cars for the magazines of one of the largest and best-known publishing houses in Germany, the Motor Presse Verlag, Stuttgart. In 1965, he began his career as a designer at Ford, Germany and two years later he moved to Ford in the USA. Muth returned to Germany in 1968 and was responsible for Ford's future plans. In 1971, he switched to BMW to take on the responsibility for interior and motorcycle design as their chief designer. From 1980-1990, Muth traveled to Japan where he designed cars, cameras, golf clubs, watches and helicopters for ten years. From 1989-1994, he taught as Chairman of Transportation Design at the Art Center College of Design (ACCD) in Switzerland. Publisher & Print Info: There is no publisher info printed on the Print itself, but it was published by The Ariel Press, London, England and originally sold in folio sets of either 24 or 18 prints of classic antique cars titled, Old Motorcars, Veteran & Vintage (24 prints, Taplinger Publishing Company, New York, 1st Edition 1964), or the alternate simpler title of, Old Cars (18 prints, K.G. Lohse, Frankfurt am Main, Germany, I believe a later reprint, undated, c.1965-1969) with descriptive text by Philip Lawton Sumner, B.SC, A.F.R., AC.S., who was Vice-Chairman of the Veteran Car Club of Great Britain, with plates after the original painting illustrations by Hans Albrecht Muth (German, 1935-), as well as being published in book form, Veteran Cars: Golden Ariels (by Philip Lawton Sumner, Ariel Press, 1968 and also Taplinger Publishing Company, NY, 1969). The folios were also printed in various languages (eg: Automobiles Anciennes) and they were printed by K.G. Lohse Graphic Company, Frankfurt am Main, Germany (AKA K.G. Lohse Graphischer Großbetrieb, Frankfurt am Main, Germany, Printers & Publishers, c.1924-1992) and The Ariel Press also issued various other art print sets in specific series (often listed on other portfolio inside end-flaps). Some of the prints have ‘Printed in Germany’, stamped on them in the lower right outer margin corners, and our Print listed does not feature the stamp. Our Print is from a broken set, I believe from the later folio set, and is being sold individually. In some folios, Sumner included descriptive text about each vehicle on verso, but our prints do not feature the text. The Print is on a nice ivory-colored wove paper stock, and what’s neat is that you can still see the color printing registration lines & bars in the lower left outer margin corner area (and a few lines in two other outer margin corners) used to keep the print straight (registered) on the printing press for each color used, which are normally trimmed off. Size & Condition: The size with wide margins is 12-3/16” x 16-1/8”. The Print itself is in VeryGood-Excellent Rare+ condition for its vintage age with absolutely no color fade! This Print has been tucked away in one of our archive drawers amongst other prints & lithos since it was purchased by the Meibohm family and hasn’t seen the light of day in all this time and is as-good-as any collector could hope to find in its original never-framed condition. This would look stunning all framed-up! No tears. Ultra-minimal (maybe one or two) very tiny & very faint foxing specks scattered here & there on the sheet which are hardly even noticeable and aren’t even worth mentioning. Extremely minimal (only a handful or so) of tiny & very slight small crescent-creases scattered here & there in the image/plate margin area. Other extremely minimal & slight small creasing scattered here & there in the outer margin areas and tiny dog-ear bends in a few outer margin corners—as previously mentioned, any outer margin issues are completely negligible since they can easily be matted & framed out. Negligible toning of the stock from age which isn’t even noticeable amidst the ivory color of the paper stock itself and isn’t worth mentioning either. This vintage Print has never been framed which is always more desirable to collectors since it has never been exposed to older non-archival materials, matburn or lightfade.
